Miscellaneous Records, Onondaga County Courthouse (D,263):
Notification having been given according to law to the male persons of
full age residing within the bounds of the school district No. 13 in the
town of Manlius and to Several other male persons adjacent they convened
on the 13th day of May 1822 in the school house in said district at which
meeting Elders Cornelius Van Tassel & James M. Hibbard presided it
was then agreed to form themselves into a religious Society by the name
of the Fourth Presbyterian Society in the town of Manlius they then proceeded
to choose as the law directs three persons to be trustees of said Society
and the following persons were chosen by a plurality of voices to be trustees
of the Fourth Presbyterian Society in the town of Manlius viz. Peter E.
S. Gumaer, Almon Cook, George Real, William P. Hilten, Jacob Hevener, Isaac
Van Tassel, Cornelius V. Tassel, James M. Hebbard. Witnesses Elisha
Capron Peter E. L. Gumaer, State of New York Onondaga County
Ss. On the Eighteenth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred &
twenty three James M. Hibbard the person described in the within certificate
appeared before me & acknowledged that he saw the same proceedings
mentioned in within certificate that he Signed the same as one of the trustees
for the uses & purposes therein mentioned. I therefore allow
