WEBB CEMETERY

Lot 22 of the Indian Purchase of 1817, Town of LaFayette

The Webb Cemetery was laid out on land settled by the Mayhew family in 1818. Status: Its legal definition is that of an unincorporated and abandoned cemetery. In his will dated March 11, 1957 Edwin D. Webb provided for the perpetual care of the cemetery by a bequest to the LaFayette Rural Cemetery Association of $10,000. The principal of this bequest is to be kept invested with 5/8 ths of the annual income to be used at the LaFayette Cemetery grounds and 3/8 ths of the annual income to be used at the Webb Cemetery. The trustees of the LaFayette Rural Cemetery Association are to administer this bequest "for the perpetual care and beautification of the Webb Hollow Cemetery" The bequest was received in December, 1961.
